CMN and Phi Mu - Stronger Than EverFrom fashion to fitness, Phi Mu’s collegiate chapters continue to find unique ways to raise money as the Children’s Miracle Network’s official women’s Greek partner for more than 20 years.
The women of Phi Mu have raised over $6 million for the charitable organization, which was established in 1983, to help children by supporting improved health care options through its associated hospitals, now numbering more than 170 nationwide. “Phi Mu has a long history of supporting women’s and children’s health issues. Because of Children’s Miracle Network’s focus on better health care for children, they were a natural fit for Phi Mu,” said Mary Ganim, ΔΦ, Phi Mu’s Children’s Miracle Network Chairman. “When the opportunity arose to become the only women’s fraternity sponsor, we jumped on board in 1986.” As a part of the sponsorship, Phi Mu is committed to raising $500,000 per year, and often exceeds that goal, Ganim said. “Children’s Miracle Network is tremendously grateful for the partnership of Phi Mu,” said Cindee Starkie, Director of Sponsor Relations for Children’s Miracle Network. “Phi Mu chapters have helped us raise significant funds to support children treated at their local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. These funds have helped provide new equipment, capital expansion, patient services and fund research for the 17 million children treated at our hospitals each year. The women of Phi Mu are truly Miracle Makers.” We’re shining the spotlight on three collegiate chapters who are successful at raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network on their campuses. Their stories serve as an inspiration for all Phi Mus looking ahead to community service and philanthropic events in 2008.
