Yesterday…Today…Forever with Phi Mu Foundation Kimberly Kennedy, ΑΑ, University of Georgia Phi Mu Alumna, Author and Foundation Guest Speaker
Attending Phi Mu Convention was a great experience for me on many levels. Mostly, it was a confirmation and proliferation of all the positive experiences I have had since reuniting with Phi Mu Foundation as an alumna. It was also unlike anything I have experienced in my professional career. This past July, I stood in front of 500 ladies, as I have many times before, during a luncheon hosted by Phi Mu Foundation. Yet I knew immediately that this time was different. Actually, it caught me a little off guard as I walked on stage and my “auto-pilot” delivery completely shut down. After I was given my most touching introduction to date, I looked at the crowd assembled in front of me and I actually got choked up with emotion. For those who know me, that never happens. The unusual element here was not the venue, demonstration topic or the size of the crowd; it was realizing that I didn’t need to sell myself or prove anything to this group. They loved me and accepted me just as I was. Imagine that. It is so comforting to know that I am part of an organization of women who support one another and sincerely care about each other. The energy at Convention is real and the excitement is genuine. It’s just something you have to experience first-hand to realize that we really are part of something big and beautifully unique.
