The following Successful Sisters were nominated by their peers, family members, and co-workers. These women represent the principles upon which Phi Mu was founded: leadership, sisterhood, community service and character. the women who fight breast cancer everyday.

What was the defining moment of success in your life?

Living as a breast cancer survivor for the past four years.

What or who contributes to your success?

My faith, my family and my friends contribute to my success in surviving breast cancer. My Delta family has supported me in my efforts to raise breast cancer awareness. I would like
to especially recognize Mr. Richard Anderson, CEO of Delta Air Lines; Jo Anne Smith, Senior Vice President of In Flight Services; and Sandy Gordon, Vice President of In Flight Service.

How has your experience as a Phi Mu aided in your success?

Phi Mu helped me learn how to improve my
leadership skills by working with great sisters in our
bond. I still fly with many of my sisters today!

Blair Christie, ΒΤ
Senior Vice President for Corporate
Communication - Cisco Systems, Inc.

Blair Christie_forweb.jpgNominated for her selection as one of the top thirty working mothers of the year by Working Mother Magazine.

What are you passionate about and what inspires you?

I am most passionate about my family and friends and making sure I can enjoy them as much as possible. In the professional world, I am very passionate about the authenticity of an organization, striking the right balance between competition and doing what is right and solving complex problems with teams.

What was the defining moment of success in your life?

Success starts at home, so I think about personal milestones -- education, marriage, job changes, having children -- and how you handle those as very defining moments. There are moments where you can be exactly who you are and achieve the results you want, giving you insight into staying on the right track.

What or who contributes to your success?

My family and friends are key, especially my husband. A sense of humor helps, as well as a broad network of friends to help share the load -- or at least to offer manyears to bend. I also am fortunate to work with fantastic people who inspire me to succeed in the workplace.

How has your experience as a Phi Mu aided in your success?

Being a part of a network of strong women contributed to my leadership and collaboration skills, as well as working in a team and learning how to influence and contribute to a common goal. Phi Mu provided me with some of my favorite lifetime memories, more smiles than I can imagine, and fantastic experiences with a diverse group of people.

Carole Lynn W. Meadows, ΑΔ
Educator

Carol Lynn Meadows_forweb.jpgNominated for her extensive contributions to the field of education, her philanthropic work in her community and her continued support of her alma mater.

What are you passionate about and what inspires you?

Beyond my family, I am passionate about my community and Ole Miss. I have worked to ensure that our children have a future to look forward to with hope and eagerness and a
future that offers them the possibilities that were afforded me.

What was the defining moment of success in your life?

The day we opened the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center (a children’s museum in Gulfport, Miss., in memory of our daughter) would be on the top ten list of any success I might
claim. I also recall times in my life when former students have credited their success to something learned in my class.

What or who contributes to your success?

My husband has been my greatest champion, encouraging and supporting me in all my projects. My parents, who gave me a solid foundation; my friends, who have been
willing to go the extra mile with me; and my education at Ole Miss have all played a role in my destiny.

How has your experience as a Phi Mu aided in your success?

Phi Mu was my family away from home. My sisters became my confidants, my cheerleaders, my encouragers, and my friends. Whatever development of God given talents I may
possess was enhanced by the sisterhood I found with Phi Mu.

Electrical Engineer
United States Navy

Jen Jardine_forweb.jpgNominated for her success as a civilian working for the United States Navy and her support of Phi Mu as the Area ll Membership Coordinator.

What are you passionate about and what inspires you?

Knowing that I am working to benefit the Navy and our country and to improve our nation’s defense is aninspiration to me every day. Through my career and volunteer work with Phi Mu, I am fortunate to fulfill my passion for travel. I have traveled to all but two continents and hope to one day add those to my list.

What was the defining moment of success in your life?

I designed a Main Propulsion Diesel Engine for the MCM1 Class of ships and traveled to each of the fourteen vessels to set up the engines and the control system. During this time, I realized that I could not only troubleshoot and resolve any problems associated with the system but that I also loved what I did for the Navy.

What or who contributes to your success?

My husband is extremely supportive of my work and travel for the Navy. I have had to visit ships and ports all over the world and have often had to ride ships from country to country with minimal communication to the outside world.

How has your experience as a Phi Mu aided in your success?

While in college, I held several positions which provided me with leadership experience, time management skills, and the opportunity to successfully work in a team. The conversation skills that I learned for recruitment have been valuable in all business situations.

There is no one moment. So many moments, coincidences, mistakes and successes have put me where I am today.

What or who contributes to your success?

My friends and my family contribute to my success. The people who send me funny articles, chocolate from the U.S., or who call me when I’m not feeling so happy also contribute to my success.

How has your experience as a Phi Mu aided in your success?

Phi Mu has shaped me in so many ways. I am thankful for the leadership experience and
the friends that I have made who continue to support me through good and bad times.

Tara Warner, ΑΥ
Director and Founder of
Awesome Association

Tara Warner_forweb.jpgNominated for providing year round sports and activities to children with and without disabilities in Southwest Louisiana.

What are you passionate about and what inspires you?

My daughters Lanie and Skylee and the kids of Awesome Association inspire me every day. I am very passionate about our organization and providing an environment where kids with disabilities can play and make friends.

What was the defining moment of success in your life?

My older daughter, Lanie was born with Spina Bifida and I had to make a choice -- to accept the disappointing news of a child with a disability or embrace it and make a difference for her and every child like her. I chose to make a difference. This experience evolved
into Awesome Association and my success.

What or who contributes to your success?

God, my family, and the wonderful Buddies (volunteers) of Awesome Association. God has provided so many opportunities for Awesome to grow.
