Dear Sisters and Friends,

Again, another summer passes and a new season is upon us. Excitement and change fill
the air. Our women return to their campuses set for another successful and productive
year. The halls of chapter houses fill with new voices after recruitment. Alumnae
chapters advertise and look forward to their kick-off events, hoping some new faces join
their circles. Area and National officers plan for the year, arranging visits and setting
goals for their officer teams and chapters. Another vibrant Phi Mu year has begun!
That is what I love most about fall. It is comforting to know that we start out fresh and
that there are new endeavors that lie before us. We lead the way to our achievements
and successes for Phi Mu as a whole.

In May, National Council held its Collegiate/Alumnae Management Meeting. It was
led by Shani Burley-Moore, ΚΑ, Vice President Alumnae; and Beth Denney Ward,
ΔΗ, Vice President Membership. National Council wanted to develop some very
specific goals for the remainder of the biennium. Aileen Eaves, ΑΝ, National State
Day Chairman, served as the facilitator in guiding us through the method of creating
process maps. Several maps were created for each department to work on between now
and Convention 2010. After the meeting, it was determined by National Council that
the three key areas of focus for the Fraternity in this year would be:

• Identifying and resolving our biggest membership challenges

• Financial support for extension and new housing

• Finding, keeping and training advisers

Our plans are set and our teams have a clear vision to guide them through the year.
Our leadership is thriving and growing. I look with great pride on our National Council
members and their departments. These women are taking our Fraternity to new places
and ensuring that the vibrant life is for members now and far into the future.

From north to south and east to west, our sisterhood boasts of our shining stars. This
issue of the Aglaia celebrates many of the vibrant and successful women who are part
of our beloved sisterhood. Take a few moments to get to know them and share in the
pride of sisterhood. You will meet bold women who have broken barriers and achieved
the unimaginable. They are role models and friends, but most importantly to us they are
Phi Mu.

Cherish the season and live the vibrant life!

Love in Our Bond,
Robin White Fanning, ΒΙ
National President
