Technology Timeline 1966 Chapter accounts processed through data processing system out of Executive Office by a private company.
1972 Membership records converted to computer by Data Science Corporation (Phi Mu did not have computers then; the info was sent to them for entry & we’d get back big printouts).
1977 Multi-graph automated offset press installed.
1977 Foundation moved from handkept membership & financial records to data entry input.
1978 Membership records made available on microfiche to staff vs. large stacks of printouts.
1980-82 Lanier No Problem Word Processor purchased to eliminate the staff typist. Also, automatic collator eliminated need for entire staff having to collate major mailings.
1984 Complete computer system installed.
1986 Network computer system incorporating all membership information added. Financial information was not included until sometime later. Word processors prevalent & still being used.
1990 Fax purchased for Executive Office.
1991 Computerized collegiate chapter accounting program introduced to chapters.
1990-92 Computer system and software upgraded, adding desktop publishing capability.
1992-94 Scanner installed.
c. 1994 Use of e-mail implemented at Executive Office.
1995 Voicemail on Executive Office phones. \
1996 Phimu.org test Web site up. People could log on & see a picture saying “Phi Mu under construction.”
1996 New computers installed, moving from DOS to Windows; Production color printer leased.
c. 1996 Toll-free phone number for Carnation Collection installed.
1998 Foundation added to Web site.
1998 Color printer added.
2000 Foundation added online donations on Web site.
2001 CD0-Rom burner.
2006 Phi Mu Dashboard launched. 2007 phimuaglaia.com launched.
2008 Phi Mu introduces the GIN and Bloom networking systems at National Convention.
